Esso recruited him following competitive selection from numerous engineering candidates, placing him initially in sales before advancement to market analysis covering southern Brazil. A transfer to Rio de Janeiro brought commercial strategy responsibilities at the petroleum distributor’s national operations, work grounded in computer-based data evaluation.
Returning to Paraná, he took an advisory position at Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant. The state enterprise environment contrasted sharply with multinational operations, particularly regarding technology adoption. Purchasing computers required navigating permanent asset procedures that created significant delays compared to private sector procurement timelines.
Constructing a Portfolio of Technology Businesses
Drawing on observations from both corporate settings, he launched Minauro to lease computer equipment to government clients. The arrangement featured multi-year contracts incorporating maintenance services and periodic hardware replacements, circumventing the asset classification complications he had witnessed at Itaipu. Subsequent acquisitions brought software development capabilities into the fold, producing the e-Governe Group with municipal administration solutions deployed across Brazil.
